Description:This is a huge underplug that is the same size as a Bormann fuse (1.62" diameter). These were screwed in place of the Bormann time fuses to convert shells to solid shot during the amphibous landing so friendly soldiers would not get hit by shrapnel. They also seem to be in case shot balls of a large caliber (like 9-11") I suppose to enable folks to put the balls inside the shell.
