Description:These are nearly impossible to find in mint condition with the numbers and other writing clearly legible. This type of metal just doesn't fare well in the ground. This one came from a water shell and had to be cut out.

Chuck Jones calls this the late war patterns. Others argue it is the Navy pattern and the other type with the spring across the top is the army pattern. For purposes of the debate, this came from a normal 3in case shot, not a big Navy shell.
