Location Recovered: City Point
Description:What a terrific piece -- acquired directly from one of the divers on the City Point wrecks. This was the site of Confederate sabotage and tons of material was lost on the many supply barges and ships that sank as a result. The diver told me only 4 water buckets were recovered and this is one of them.
The diver said this one was recovered by him or one other diver. I will give the winning bidder the diver's name and number and you can contact him to hear the story from the horse's mouth.
Artillery grease buckets are common because they were also used on wagons, but the artillery water buckets are hard to come by. Normally they are $1250, but this one has a thumb sized hole in the bottom. The hole has been patched and the recovery location and story direct from the diver more than make up for that.
There are only 3 others!
