Description:This is a nice example of the Eagle breastplate issued to the union troops. It was worn on their cartridge box strap. The face has a nice chocolate brown patina with just enough cleaning to still show it was dug. The eagle and edge have very good detail and relief. There are two small rust spots where the embedded wire has rusted though but it is very slight and doesn't detract much. This is often seen on lead filled plate like this. There is one small push at the 7:00 edge. The back has full lead in pretty good shape but the hooks are missing. It is a very nice plate for the money.
