Description:I actually own the bottom of the barbette carriage that sat on this piece of track. It was dug 50 years ago with this and a couple other pieces which have male and female interlocking ends. This piece is broken and only has the "female" end, but Carl ran it through electrolysis and it is solid enough to drive nails with. A super cool piece of Southern cannon track.
This particularly piece of track had a 6.4in Brooke rifle on it. When the Yankees overran the CS lines they reversed the gun on Forts Huger and Tracey but it was somehow disabled. The lower portion of the carriage was in turn buried with much of the track. I had visions of turning the carriage into a huge coffee table but for now it is available unrestored and listed separately.
We had this piece cleaned up especially for a fellow whose initials are JD, but at the last show he instead bought junque from a highly unscrupulous guy setup nearby so I am giving up on him and listing this for our more enlightened customers.
