Description:Very nice M1840 Artillery saber with a desirable war era date of 1864 and Ames Company markings. I had the wire braid put back on it, but everything else, including the leather is original. A purist could remove the wire wrap as many of the soldiers did because it poked their hands. Also, it has the "K" inspector mark on the drag which is another nice attribute.
