Covers firearm systems and forms of projectiles for them, field trials of 1850's that adopted expanding base bullets, arsenals and ammunition production, round ball and medford ammo for smooth bore muskets, regulation .54, .58, .69, .71 and elongated balls for rifled muskets, patented and purchased rounds for .58 caliber, Gardner explosive, Shaler sectional and Williams bullets. Section on gun cotton, blanks and bullet making equipment.
