Description:Largest size of the strictly Confederate polygonal cavity spherical shells. Has the diamond pattern and interior is very clean showing the lines of weakness perfectly. Included is a diamond shaped frag, also from Spanish Fort, to show how these were designed to fracture into 12 geometrically shaped pieces.

In late 1862, Confederate Capt. John W. Mallet designed this new type of "internally segmented" common shell.
