Description:This is a very neat display piece showing how the fusing worked. The iron is from a 3" or 2.9" Parrott shell or Read-Parrott shell and is from the nose area. It has about 25% of the threaded fuse hole and shows some of the powder cavity. The fuse is the Parrott zinc adapter. It is the later adaption that had the lip to cover the threads and help prevent the cannon flames from getting past the threads and causing premature ignition. Also included is a nice 8 second paper time fuse just like what would be used to detonate the shell. The pieces fit together nicely and make a great informative display.
