Description:This is a half shell of the less common case shot using the Schenkl Combination fuse. The body is nice hard iron though it shows some pitting from its life in the ground. The combination fuse shows good clean threads but the center cap is missing. The shell cavity has the black pitch matrix with plenty of balls inside. Some appear to have been made of clay or something. I'm not sure what the yellow ones are. I kept the other half in my collection and hope to find out one day. There is a nice clean powder train down the middle slightly angled from the center line of the shell. This half has the drill hole for disarming but the powder was concreted and didn't wash out. This is a nice good example of Schenkl combination fuse shell's makeup.
