Description:Very nice example of an often used projectile that has been cut in half. Most interesting on this example is that everything regarding the fuse is perfectly aligned. You can clearly see the brass Hotchkiss time fuse adapter extending into the nose portion of the shell and the small iron tube that joins it with the hole in the pusher place to help transmit the fuse ignition to the powder chamber in the lower half of the shell. Original petrified gun powder still remains but won't explode. The case shot are lead chunks and for an unknown reason the shot near the pusher plate appear to be melted. Casting flaws are evident at the bottom of the nose leaving the air bubble pockets which is often seen in shells of this period. This is a really nice display item.
