Description:This is the last type of Hotchkiss case shot fusing system used in the war and it is not shown in the fuse book or elsewhere. In this type the bottom of the brass adapter is rebated to fit into a white metal sleeve that in turn would channel the flame from the fuse to the powder chamber beneath the pusher plate. The prior version used an extremely narrow iron tube which was difficult to get in place properly and often failed.

I am keeping the other half as it is the best example I have seen of this rare late war fusing system for the Hotchkiss case shot shell.
