Description:Heavy bottom section of a large 11in spherical shell probably fired by one of the Monitors into the rebel defenses. This is the thickest part of the shell designed to make it land bottom down so the fuse wasn't snuffed out. For these balls, the powder cavit is flat on the bottom and njot a perfect sphere so that the bottom is much heavier than the rest of the shell. As a result the shells usally fragmented right where the shell walls got thicker. These are very desirable frags, especially in an 11in size.
