Description:This is a really nice relic. It is a must have for the frag collector and a super addition for the artillery collector. This is the base fragment to a 2.5 inch caliber bourreleted Read shell made for the Blakely rifle. This is an extremely rare shell. Of the few that have been found, most came from the extended Union lines north of Kennesaw Mountain and a few are from the Atlanta campaign.

The condition of the iron is uncleaned but very solid and would clean up well. The sabot is near perfect with no bends and distinct Blakely rifling all around. Additionally it has a wonder deep chocolate brown patina.
