Description:We have here a very nice example of a no doubt Confederate shell recovered from the siege of Petersburg, VA. This shell half clearly shows the CS fuse adapter with its threads. The iron side loader plug and its threads are very visible. Also the iron case balls in the black matrix and the powder chamber can be clearly seen. A nice example displaying the CS ingenuity to build a cannon ball with iron case balls. Every collection needs one of these.
