Description:Cool half section showing the interior construction of this shell. Wires separated the sections to cause the chunks to easily break apart when the shell exploded and serve as sectional case shot. The iron on these British made shells is super hard so they are very difficult to cut, but a friend has a $45,000 saw that can do the job. Both sides used these and this one was fired from Battery F, 1st Missouri Light Artillery, USA. Official Records state they fired 1,102 rounds, mostly at Confederate Fort McDermott, with a few sailing over the hill towards Battery Old Spanish Fort.
