Description:This is a rarely seen frag from the very hard to find 3.67-inch flanged Sawyer shell. Most of this type Sawyer is found at Port Hudson and the fragments don't show up very often. What makes this fragment very neat is that it shows 3 of the 6 flanges and the bottom is still covered with the lead jacket. The lead is in very good shape. Unfortunately while this piece is slightly over half of the base it does not appear to have any of the patent date.
The iron has only been lightly cleaned and would clean up better which I'll do before shipping. This will make the ribs stand out clearer.
A great piece to have showing the construction of this very neat but ineffective shell.
