Description:
Truly the "better half," this section has it allwith the cut away showing not only the copper powder chamber "acorn," but also the exhaust/powder trail and nozzle. To show all this the cutter used a very precise tool, but nonetheless it was not possible for the other side to show the powder trail.
These bullets showed off like modern day tracers with a bang at the end. Many considered them to be unethical and they were only used a few times. This was in a group I got from Pete George at the Richmond relic show. Pete did not know for sure where they were recovered, but my strong feeling is Chancellorsville where 10,000 were lost by the Yankees. These bullets weren't used at too many other places and some of them were captured and subsequently taken to Gettysburg.
