This is a rare bullet made at the Charleston Arsenal for use in the Brunswick two groove rifles imported to the South. It turned out that these no groove bullets worked just as well in those rifles and so they were made up in Charleston. The Western theatre got a lot of these rifles and these bullets turn up in Vicksburg where 146 of the rifles were issued to one unit and Port Hudson. This one came from Bob Bangston out of Port Hudson.
