Description:
3in smooth sided Read fired from a Parrott rifle (3 lands and grooves in the sabot). This one took a wood fuse adapter. The neatest thing about this shell is that it has a rebated base above the sabot. This extra lathing was done to handle the problem of base chipping when these shells were fired. Generally the chipping would stop at the top line of the lathe cut, but in this case no chipping occurred at all.

ex Pete George collection. It wouldn't take much work at all to clean this up. I'm selling it for someone else so wanted to post it, but if it doesn't sell I'll clean it up for them later when I have some time.
