Description:The 3" Hotchkiss shell came in both case shot and common shell versions. It seems to me that the common shell version, which this one represents, is a little less common than the case shot style.

This is a nice example of a 3" Hotchkiss that has lost both the cup and the lead sabot. this was a somewhat common occurrence. The iron on this example is good and hard though it lost a few spots that left small recessed areas. The shell displays very well.

I bought this from the digger so the Port Hudson provenance is very good.

Shell is inert, cleaned and coated.
