Description:Truly a rare item here. This Confederate 12-lber cannon ball was cast to be a Bormann fused shell. But issues with that fuse caused the south to rethink the use of that and they came up with a CS Copper adapter much like the one in use on other cannon balls and also similar to the ones in Read's and other shells. This allow the use of the fairly reliable paper time fuse in a ball with a Bormann fuse hole. This was only a way to use shells already cast that way so not a lot were made. They are pretty uncommon.

As you can see, this shell has the iron side loader plug with spanner holes so we know it is a case shot shell with iron case shot balls inside.

Note the image with two balls is to compare the fuse size to a ball with the standard CS fuse adapter. It is not for sale and for comparison only.

Iron is quite good on this projectile and with a little TLC it would look great.

Shell is inert, cleaned and coated.
