Description:We have all seen the 5-sided and diamond shaped cannon ball pieces at the shows and on sites and if you did in the deep south or out west you find them. They are from the cannon balls made with lines of weakness to break into these given shapes and a couple very rare others. While I can't guarantee this is one, it came from Atlanta and I've not heard of any non-polygonal cavity 12-lber shells from there. Also it kind of feels like it as best I can tell on the inside. If this doesn't sell quickly I'll get it cut in half and find out for sure.
The iron condition is decent. it hasn't been cleaned well but was coated with what looks like flat black paint to me. There is only some very minor flaking and no big pits at all. It appears to have been found with the wooden fuse in it and it was removed to disarm it. The fuse hole has slick iron and you can see the outline of the old fuse.
This is a really nice ball for the money.
Shell is inert, somewhat cleaned and coated.
