Description:This round is in nice shape with good iron and the brass sabot took the rifling well. It was a local pickup that spent many years as a doorstop in an old Marietta, Georgia home. The iron has never been messed with and there are a couple rock scratches from it bouncing off the rocky land.
The only 20pdr Parrotts at Kennesaw were in Degress' Battery (Battery "H", 1st Illinois Light Artillery Regiment). Operations about Marietta and against Kennesaw Mountain June 10-July 2. The attack itself was on June 27th so that may very well be when this round was fired.
The last picture is by Don Troiani showing Degress' Battery a few weeks later at the Battle of Atlanta immortalized in the Cyclorama.
I can bring this to Dalton and save shipping if someone near there wants to buy it and repatriate it.
