Location Recovered: Tar Bluff, SC area

Description:This bolt is only found on the Combahee River at the site of the January 1865 sinking of the USS Dai Ching.

Only half a dozen of these have been recovered and they are all fractured from impact. The remains of the USS Dai Ching formed Gunboat Island which you can see on Google Maps satellite images just downstream of Tar Bluff.
