Description:Awesome 7in Brooke shell priced to move! This one has Tom Dickey's signature mark of a white oval with a number written in it followed by a period. From the reference tables, we know #8 in his system was Spanish Fort, Alabama.
The sabot is a terrific fit but has broken loose because the attaching bolt head sheared off. This has the desirable version of the Archer fuse that is only found in the Mobile area. It is similar to the percussion fuse, but has a hole to accommodate a paper time fuse. This is probably a replacement as the sides of the fuse hole do not look to extend down into the shell as far as I'd think they would.
This shell displays beautifully and is from the king of Civil War artillery himself.
