Description:This is a truly hard to obtain Read variant on consignment from Pete George of the Dickey and George artillery book fame. This shell is mostly like the Virginia and Georgia counter parts but is a bit longer and made in the Fall of 1862 at the Richmond foundry of Snyder & Walker. This is a low area find and coupled with the late war iron quality it shows the effects from being in the ground. The iron has uneven pitting all over but still shows the bourrelets. There is also the remains of the lathe lug on the nose. The sabot is very nice with wonderful patina. There are 3 flame grooves pretty evenly spaced. A hard to get example for your collection.

Shell is inert, cleaned and coated.
