Description:This is a truly hard to obtain Read variant on consignment from Pete George of the Dickey and George artillery book fame. This shell is mostly like the Virginia and Georgia counter parts but is a bit longer and likely made in a foundry out west. This is a low area and coupled with the late war iron quality it shows the effects from being in the ground. The iron has uneven pitting all over but still faintly shows the bourrelets. The sabot is beautiful with wonderful patina. The 4 saw cuts are pretty evenly spaced. A hard to get example for your collection.
Shell is inert, cleaned and coated.
