Description:Everyone likes the canister rounds as they display so well and conjure up images of the enemy advancing into roaring cannon belching the iron balls. I guess all cannon had some form of canister to go with the shot and shell. The canister balls would be either iron or lead though the lead is only really found in the smaller sizes.
This example, like most you see for sale that don't have the tin covering, is reconstructed from battlefield finds. The iron balls are either good or very good in condition. When I got this it was not well done and I had the master canister builder to it right and he definitely did. As such I know it is built with all balls including the ones in the center. Some people leave these out if they don't have enough balls when reconstructing since they are hard to see. This one is done right. The top and bottom plates are fired showing indentations of the balls so there is no question these are original places and not recycled old metal. This is one that will surely enhance a collection.
Projectile is inert, cleaned and coated.
