Description:This is the typical Read with bourrelets for the 3-inch Ordnance rifle. It was widely used in all theatres and is one of the most popular shell styles for collectors. They are not uncommon to find but are uncommon to find nice.
The condition is very good with only the slightest ground action to show it was dug. Bourrelets are crisp and clear all the way around the shell. You can see where the lathe lug was broken off. The copper sabot has very clear 7 lands-n-grooves rifling from the ordnance gun. The only negative with this shell is a slight pull of the sabot on one side but the shell still stands nearly straight. The copper fuse is the thick lip variety and is in very nice shape with dark patina and no dings.
The prior owner wrote on the shell with its specifics as you can see from the images. This can be removed if the new owner prefers.
Shell is inert, cleaned and coated.
