Description:Nice example of the desirable sideloader shell. As supplies of lead ran low for the Confederacy, they were forced to use iron case shot balls. It is near impossible to drill out a powder cavity when the case shot are iron, so the sideloader plug was used as the war progressed and lead supplies dwindled. Later there wasn't even enough lead for the sideplug and iron and copper ones would be used. Nice mold seam!
