Description:Here we have a cool bit of history and the last of these blown up 10pdr Parrotts I have for sale. This shell was confiscated from its owner and blown up by a bomb squad. The two halves were then returned to the owner after the G-men determined the shell to be empty and safe, albeit a bit worse for their treatment of it. It has a hole in either side where a charge was applied but otherwise it fits together perfectly. It also has an inerting hole in the base and was empty when the boys with their expensive taxpayer paid toys got their mitts on it, but that is a whole other story...
Needless to say, after having his collection blown up the owner has gotten out of the Civil War artillery business and asked me to sell these (there is a Brooke shell still for me to list but it is too depressing to do now). Depending on who the buyer is, I am authorized to share more of the story around these shells, but the seller is very sensitive to being pestered directly by folks who would do that and so I have to respect that.
