Description:This is a wonderful example of this rarity 7+ (D&G) bolt. The bulk of these are found at Vicksburg with a few from Georgia and a couple other late war sites.
The cast iron body is smooth other than a small amount of ground action. Clearly evident on this projectile is the chisel marks from the cut off sprue from the vent hole and fill hole. I do not believe this bolt has gone through electrolysis where I think it would clean up very excellent if the buyer so wanted.
The iron sabot is nice clearly showing where it was pre-stamped with the 3-groove rifling for the Parrott gun.
A great projectile in better than average shape you're sure to like.
Shell appears to be very lightly coated but otherwise is as dug.
