Dickey and George (1993 Edition) Page 34
Location Recovered: Spanish Fort, AL
Description:The most common projectile of the war the 12-lber solid shot was a very effective weapon. They could bash the enemy emplacements or equipment and also be skipped across the ground for more effective troop impact.
I bought a bunch of these last year out of Spanish Fort and Fort Blakely. A select few had the G stamp for Selma manufacturing on them and slipped away from me. Nick Periut sold one for $495 after getting it from me so if you find a G stamp on this one, please do not tell me. I think both sides used these there so I do not know if this one is from Selma or elsewhere, but it is one of the half dozen or so best I got out of 110 12pdrs, 95+ of which are now gone.
