D&G have this as a rarity 10 shell. I own the one shown in the book (and paid way too much for that one -- suffice to say close to 3x what this one is listed for), and this one has better iron but no sabot. The lack of sabot reveals this to be of the Dyer sabot type which is interesting. One of the early Parrott rifles that fired this type of projectile is at the Citadel now and it appears that most if not all the guns ended up in the South for the war making it a Northern manufactured, Southern used round.
This one has gold paint on it from having been in a GAR museum. A great, rare shell...
