Description:This is a classic shell from a key battle. Like most, it has thrown its lead sabot, but is otherwise in very nice condition. These were actually recovered on the other (Kentucky) side of the river by the Godfather of Civil War artillery, Tom Dickey. I have another of his shell recoveries with his distinctive mark to list, but this one does not have his recovery location markings, probably because it was re-coated at some later time.
