Description:Nice example of this uncommon shell type. As the war progressed lead was so scarce that the Confederates started using iron balls in these shots, but with lead sideplugs. As it got toward the end they didn't even have enough lead for that and used old Bormann shell underplugs with the centers stopped up as the sideplugs.
