Description:This is a nice example of a rarity 5 shell first showing in Vicksburg and Gettysburg and then fair amounts in the Atlanta Campaign battles. This particular projectile is from the Battle of Kennesaw where we know a good amount was fired at Little Kennesaw and Cheatham's Hill.
The iron on this example is in decent shape and does show some ground action but not badly. The shell could clean up a little better with some TLC. The sabot is very nice showing very good rifling and patina. The zinc time fuse adapter is only somewhat present due to ground action and disarming the shell via the fuse hole. It would probably not be too hard to clean out the fuse hole and threads if desired.
A very nice shell for the money, the shell is cleaned, coated and disarmed.
