Description:A typical 3-inch Parrott round used plentifully during the war. Invented by Robert Parker Parrott and used in the cannons he also invented, the US government purchased a steady supply. They are a typical shell along with the 3-inch Hotchkiss at Kennesaw Mountain.
This particular round is in very good shape. The brass sabot shows excellent rifling and the nice white zinc fuse is in better than average shape. The iron is very smooth with no pitting and appears to be an early find. I am pretty sure it is a case shot as I can hear what appears to be case balls rattling around inside. A little detail cleaning would make this a beautiful projectile.
This shell has been drilled, cleaned and coated.
