Description:This is the slightly rarer heavier brother of the 10in mortar ball I just listed. To be honest, I had it in a crate and thought it was a solid shot. I dumped it hauling it on my hand truck and discovered the wood fuse adapter. That, the heavier weight from thicker walls, and no tong holes make this a Columbiad shell for firing from a gun (cannon) not a mortar.
This is a really nice one. The wood fuse adapter wiggles in the hole and I am almost certain that it can be removed with a bit of effort. I slid my pen knife around the edge but could not get it to budge, and it is hotter than Africa outside right now so I gave up and came inside to sit in air conditioning and type. Before Relicrunner and Carl start snickering about my laziness, they work as a pair like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and I just singlehandedly hauled a solid 8, 9, 2x 10" shells, a 6.4" Parrott bolt, a 6.4in Parrott shell (aka 100pdr), a 13" mortar and an 8in mortar around from car to car and garage to basement. (OK, I had help on the 13in from the buyer, but the rest were done by yours truly solo -- that's right, me, who just had a milestone birthday yesterday and should've had folks waiting on him instead). I don't understand why all my friends around here screen my calls or suddenly get very busy with honeydos when I call them -- yes you know who you guys are!
I can't wait to go back to my cushy office job in the morning...
