Description: Very desirable 12 pounder side loader with a nice lead plug. The hole in the side was used to load the case shot balls around a dowel inserted through the fuse hole. The hole is then filled with either a lead, brass or iron plus; lead in this case. Shell has a very nice copper fuse adapter that is perfect. Lead plug is also in very nice condition with no pitting. Shell body exhibits the very porous condition often found in Confederate projectiles. Shell is clean, coated and disarmed.
